Getting started with our Personal Shopper service

As you browse IKEA's full online catalog, simply click the Save to list button to add items to your shopping list. You can access your shopping list by clicking Log In, and then See your shopping list.

Tip: While you're browsing, you can check whether or not your products are currently in stock. From each product page, simply choose Funabashi as your local store, then click OK.

Once you're happy with your shopping list, send it to support@hilomarket.com. From your shopping list, click E-mail, or save it as a PDF and send it to us separately. Don't forget to include your shipping address so we can calculate the shipping cost. After we receive your shopping list, we'll put together an estimate for you.

We will send an estimate for your shopping list as soon as possible. In it there will be details of all fees, shipping charges, delivery time, and payment options. If you need to make any changes, just let us know and we will revise the estimate for you.

Once you're ready to order, simply follow the instructions in your estimate email. After we receive your order, we'll head to IKEA and get your products! Before you know it, your items will arrive at your door!

20% Handling

A 20% handling fee is added to each product in your list for labor and packing. We make sure to pick items free of dents or defects, and pay special attention when packing them so that they arrive in the same condition they were purchased. For fragile items, including mirrors and glassware, an additional 10% fee is applied for protective bubble-wrap and cardboard, to help protect them during shipping.

¥1,995 Processing

For orders below ¥15,000 (excluding shipping), a ¥1,995 processing fee is added for arranging our Personal Shopper service. We happily waive this fee for all orders over ¥15,000.

  • How long does it take to receive an estimate?
    We prepare estimates for IKEA Personal Shopper requests during our normal business hours, and try our best to send estimates within 1-2 business days. However, if we are handling a large number of orders, we may not be able to prepare your estimate right away. In some cases, it may take additional time due to our shipping partners' business hours or holiday schedule. In either case, we will be sure to get in touch with you to let you know when your estimate will be ready. If you are in a rush, we recommend sending us your list as early as possible, even if it isn't finalized.

  • Can I buy something not sold at IKEA?
    Certainly! IKEA items are our most popular Personal Shopper items, but we are happy to consider other requests as well. Let us know what you need, and we will let you know how we can help.

  • How long does it usually take until I receive my order?
    Shipping times vary for each order. Smaller items can usually be delivered to any location in Japan within 2 days, while larger items usually require between 2-7 days for delivery. Occasionally, large-volume orders may take between 3-10 days for delivery. If you are on a schedule, feel free to let us know and we will be happy to advise you on a suitable shipping option.

  • Can I get assembly for my IKEA products?
    Absolutely! While Hilo Market does not provide assembly service, we are happy to arrange an assembly appointment through IKEA on your behalf, free of charge, for customers who may have difficulty communicating in Japanese. Please note: IKEA's assembly staff will charge a ¥5,000 + 20% assembly fee. Assembly appointments are available any day after delivery of your products. For more information, simply let us know when you send us your shopping list.

  • I ordered the wrong size. Can I exchange it?
    We are happy to help exchange items, however please be aware that additional fees may apply for return shipping, additional shipping, and restocking opened or used items. When we prepare Personal Shopper estimates, we try our best to check that the products in your list work together as intended. However, as we cannot always predict each customer's needs, we kindly ask you to double check the product information in your Personal Shopper estimate in order to avoid exchanges.

  • I forgot an item in my shopping list. Can I add it to my order?
    If your order has not yet shipped, we can certainly add items to your order. However, in some cases, adding items to your order may affect the shipping cost, due to the additional size or weight, as the original shipping cost is only valid for the original shopping list. If you notice that you are missing some items, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can adjust the order before shipping your items.

  • What should I do if an item is missing or arrives damaged?
    Please contact us as soon as possible. We will help to figure out what happened. If an item was damaged, please send us a picture with a description, so that we can arrange to have the item replaced for you. If you received a wrong item, or an item is missing, we will send the correct or missing item to you, along with instructions on how to return any incorrect items to us (if necessary).

  • Can I return an item?
    Of course. We understand that a product sometimes isn't exactly what you wanted, and we are happy to accept returns. Simply let us know within 30 days of receiving your order, and we will let you know how you can return your item to us. Please note: The following terms and conditions apply for returns:

    • Returned items should still be in their unopened, unused, original packaging.
    • Opened or used items may be subject to a restocking fee.
    • All handling, processing, shipping, and Collect on Delivery (COD) fees are non-refundable.
    • Customer is responsible for return shipping cost.
    • For orders placed via Credit Card, the refund amount will be refunded to your credit card.
    • For orders placed via Collect on Delivery (COD), the refund amount may be refunded via bank transfer, minus a bank transfer fee.
